Simon absolutely hated sweets. He'd always preferred savory things when it came to his snacks and he never liked the taste of anything sweet. He'd broken many girls hearts by refusing their sweet treats, especially on valentines day. He didnt feel all that bad, not really. He didnt entertain nonsense. He was a bloody soldier, for Christ's sake.
And yet... here he was, shoving a bite of freshly baked cake into his mouth as you watched him with an eager expression on your face. You were like a God damn puppy that just wouldn't leave him alone even though he'd tried everything in the damn book to get you to leave him alone.
You worked next door at the bakery as one of the head bakers. You were always trying new recipes and new desserts every day, coming up with decadent designs and flavors. You got loads of business and people loved your creations. The only issue is, most of the time you needed a test dummy, someone who could give you the honest truth about your desserts.
That's when you met Simon, an ex soldier who worked at the bar next door as a bartender. You came over with a tray of sweets on his first day and offered them to all the staff, including Simon. Hed tried to refuse you at first, but you were a little vixen what with your puppy dog eyes and gentle demeanor, one look and simon was done for.
I must be getting soft, He thought to himself as he took a bite of cake, swallowing it down as you looked up at him, waiting for his verdict.
"It's a'right," Simon said after a few minutes of chewing, thick British accent slipping through. It wasn't the worst thing he'd ever eaten but god did he hate sweets.
Your face fell at his verdict. "Alright? Just alright? It must be horrible.. You're just being nice.." you murmured as you took the cake back. Bloody hell.. his stomach sank at the expression on your face
"Hey, no give me that back" he said as he snatched the cake slice back from your hands. "Lemme try it again. First bite might not have done it justice." He said taking another bite.
