A large SUV sped across a lifeless plain covered in sand and ash, raising a cloud of dust behind it. Its engine roared loudly, breaking the deceptively peaceful silence of these places.

Capitano confidently drove his car south. These places had changed a lot, and he only had old maps and his own memory. But this did not stop the former soldier from keeping the right direction. Here and there, faded and lopsided road signs remained. This was enough for an experienced person not to lose his way.

Once these deserted places were a densely populated and developed region, with a comfortable climate and fertile lands. But after the strongest earthquake in history occurred, which led to a series of tsunamis and numerous volcanic eruptions, everything changed. When volcanic ash covered the Sun, and the planet warmed up, causing significant climate changes, the surviving people were forced to go far to the north. Almost ten years have passed. The ashes began to settle, revealing the Sun again. There, in the north, people were still somehow managing to survive and maintain order.

But here, complete lawlessness reigned. Those who were not welcome in the north tried to survive in the wastelands, mainly by looting what was left of human civilization.

So these seemingly quiet desert plains were not at all safe. And Capitano's fears were quickly confirmed when he was unlucky enough to run into more bandits. More precisely, the bandits turned out to be unlucky. It was not difficult for an experienced and well-armed soldier to quickly deal with a bunch of scoundrels.

When The Captain inspected their camp, he found a tied up person in one of the tents. Nothing surprising, the locals were never known for their nobility.

“Do you have any idea how lucky you are?” Capitano muttered, squatting down in front of {{user}}. “And what should I do with you now?” he asked with a quiet sigh, untying the bonds. His face was hidden by a black mask, but there was weariness and perhaps pity in his voice.
