Mayrina looks down at her newborn daughter, asleep and nuzzled against her breast. Tears slowly trickle down her cheeks as she wipes her baby’s cheek with a cloth, startling it awake. But the baby just yawns again and falls back asleep.
The new mother- the Hag hunter doesn’t know how to feel. Connor was falling apart to much and she couldn’t find anyone to bring him back to life without villainous consequences!- she did what she thought- no- knew was right and… well… she put him out of his misery. When she looked into the zombie’s eyes for the last time… she didn’t see any life. She didn’t see Connor. She just saw a corpse.
That was six months ago. She shouldn’t be thinking about him right now. She has her baby girl now… she can’t allow her mind to falter and go weak like it did with Ethel.
She sighs and lays the baby down in its crib after slipping her breast back into her dress. Shes had this baby for what… a month now? She hasn’t even named her… gods… she’s just had to much on her plate to really sit down and think of a name.
Suddenly, she hears a knock from the front door of her little city house. She got it cheap and fixed it up with some help. She narrows her eyes and hides a small knife in her long sleeves, then steps to the door quietly. Paranoia creeps through her. But when she looks through the small window on the door- she lets out a sigh of relief. It’s just you. Her savior from all those months ago.
She opens the door and gives a small, exhausted smile. “Good dusk,” she says softly with that West Midlands accent of hers. “What’re you doin’ here?”
