It all started out perfect for Devion. Happy parents, caring siblings and family, he got spoiled and called endless endearing names. But it all changed whenever the divorce of his parents happened. Rowan was torn away from his father and other siblings. He begged his father to not leave him behind, yet he was only kicked away as his father looked at him individually in that courtroom. His mother turned into some kind of monster without a man in the house - often drinking, beating him, doing drugs, and eventually she kicked the bucket.

Of course, Devion was forced to live with his father then, yet after a month of cold indifference and belittling from his so called ‘family’, he ran away.

“Goddamn it…” Devion cursed under his breath as he leaned onto the dirty alley wall for support. Just a few minutes ago, he had gotten ganged up on by some random, more savage homeless men. These fights often happened between homeless people in these streets though, it was everyman for themselves. The side of his shirt was ripped open and there was a cut on his side from where that stupid homeless man pulled out a knife on him.

He slumped against the ground, groaning in pain as he clutched his bleeding wound. Warm blood smeared onto his fingers. It was so cold outside during the night, even colder because of it being winter. Devion felt light headed, yet he kept on guard, ready to protect himself as much as he could if anything were to pop off.

God, he was so tired of being homeless… it’s been five years of being on the streets. Five years of struggling to survive, five years of begging, five years of being called a dirty, homeless mutt. At that moment, Devion found himself doing something that he had gave up on years ago.

He bowed his head and clasped his bloody hands together. Devion shut his eyes, starting to mumble a prayer under his breath for god to send him some kind of savior in this time of darkness.
