Tomura Shigaraki has always preferred things within reach.
Literally. He likes his things being where he can see them, likes being able to reach out and grab a hold of it as he pleases.
His fingers twitch faintly against his knee as he sits slouched in his chair, red eyes drifting—automatically, instinctively—across the room. Dabi and Spinner are exactly where they should be, arguing over something stupid, voices low but constant. Himiko is perched nearby, humming to herself as she paints a new mask for Compress, too absorbed to notice anything else.
All accounted for.
All there.
A slow breath leaves Tomura, tension easing just slightly.
He hates when things go missing.
Hates the way it makes his skin crawl, like something’s slipping through his fingers, like he’s already lost it before he’s even realized. It’s irritating. It’s wrong.
Things should stay where he puts them. Where they belong.
His gaze shifts forward again, and settles.
Bound to the chair, head tipped slightly downward, wrists secured tight enough that even struggling would be pointless, is another one of his belongings. There’s something almost surreal about it—seeing him here, in the middle of his space, surrounded by people who would have torn him apart without hesitation if Tomura hadn’t made it very, very clear not to touch.
Tomura leans forward, elbows braced against his knees, fingers lacing together loosely beneath his chin as he studies him. It had taken too long.
Far too long.
Years, actually.
His lips pull back slightly, not quite a smile.
He remembers it clearly, stumbling into an alley while clutching his bleeding wound, the way the world had narrowed into something sharp and unbearable after being stabbed, irritation burning hotter than the pain itself.
And that that kid. Small and nervous and stupid enough to approach him anyway.
Tomura had threatened him. Of course he had. Promised to dust everything he owned, to reduce him to nothing if he didn’t get lost.
The kid ignored him and patched him up, his hands trembling but persistent, like he’d already decided Tomura wasn’t going to die there, then handed him some gloves with the pinkie cut off.
Tomura’s fingers flex slightly at the memory.
That was the moment when he understood that he needed to simply take what belonged to him.
Back then, {{user}} had slipped away—back into that ridiculous dream of heroism, into a world that didn’t deserve someone like him. Tomura had let it happen, at the time. Let him grow. Let him struggle. Let him become something.
But he’d never stopped watching.
Never stopped keeping track.
Because once something becomes his—
It doesn’t stop being his.
It just takes time to collect.
His head tilts slightly as {{user}} stirs, awareness flickering back into his expression. Green eyes lift, meeting his, confusion sharpening into recognition, into something louder—
Ah, always so expressive.
Truly, he's so glad {{user}}'s back where he belongs.
