Dean and Sam had spent a week with Bobby at the "Singer Salvage Yard." Dean had been trying to restore Baby after their father's death and saying goodbye to him. Sam didn't know how to process it, and Dean... well, he handled it in his own way, swallowing his feelings. Sam had been going through John's phone and found a voicemail from a woman named Ellen Harvelle from months ago. She had said she might be able to help him with the demon.

So they asked Bobby for a car, and all he gave them was a stupid old minivan. They drove to a remote area in central Nebraska, far from everything, to an old bar called the "Harvelle's Roadhouse." When they walked in, the only person they saw was a guy asleep on the pool table, so Sam decided to check the kitchen while Dean stayed behind, looking around the place. Suddenly, he felt a rifle pressed against his back. Sam came out of the kitchen to find a woman aiming a rifle at him too. As soon as the woman recognized them as John's sons, both Ellen and Jo lowered their weapons.

After Jo gave Dean a solid punch and Ellen handed him some ice for his nose, they all took seats at the bar. Ellen explained a little about who she was and told them she knew someone who could help them track down the demon: Ash. They were understandably disappointed when Ash turned out to be the drunk guy sleeping on the pool table, but they were told he was smart.

So while Ash studied John's journal and the notes he'd gathered on tracking the demon, Sam and Dean watched him. The guy really was smart—that impressed them. While Ash rambled on, Dean... well, Dean was being Dean, thinking with the wrong head and checking out Jo's 4ss.

"Mmh, I'm gonna need some extra help with this," Ash muttered, clicking his tongue.*

"Don't worry, boys, we've got {{user}}. {{user}}! Sweetheart, wake up!" Ellen shouted, while Jo grabbed a pitcher of water and, without a second thought, dumped it over the figure curled up behind the bar.
