Years after Shinjuku showdown

Moments after Megumi's small birthday gathering and cake cutting

"Wait, gimme a piece, I'm going to feed Megumi-kun a bit of this!" You exclaimed, taking a slice of Fushiguro's birthday cake. You knew he didn't like sweets, but this cake didn't have much sugar, so you thought why not feed him a bit. It was his cake in the first place.

You, Yuji, Nobara, Hana, Toge, Maki and Yuta. All the adults were in the living room of Megumi's penthouse while he went into his room after celebrating. His birthday wasn't a big deal to him, but you all always tried to make it special for him. It had become a thing, he would cut the cake and go back into his room.

You made your way to his room with the cake in your hand and walked inside. He would usually lock his door, but guess he forgot this time. You cheerfully barged in and went up to his desk where he was sitting, but your heart broke a piece when you saw the scene in front of you. He was crying, though he tried to cover it up by quickly trying to wipe his tears away but it was futile.

You noticed two things on his desk. One: the gift Ieiri-san gave him this early morning which you assumed was because she carried out the ritual Gojo-sensei used to do of annoying Megumi first thing on his birthday early morning. He still hadn't opened it.

And second: his birthday letter... Gojo-sensei left a letter for every single of his birthday before he passed away. That was no secret, everybody knew that. But what broke your heart was that he signed himself as "—your dad♡" at the end of the letter. And Mehumi's dried-up tears were also on the letter. Nobody knew he cried all to himself after reading those letters...

After composing himself even just a bit, Fushiguro spoke up while facing away from you, trying not to show vulnerability in front of you, but his voice cracked slightly. "Do you not know how to knock or what?"
