Colter was fucking cold. there was no way around that fact.

and cold air + snow meant the ground was frozen solid. Which meant that digging was time consuming. Which meant you and Charles had spent over an hour digging a grave for Davey

After the small funeral you and Charles had covered the body, stuck the cross in the ground and Davey was buried

If you were to ask a new member of the gang why you and Charles were always the gravediggers, they would’ve said that it was because Charles was strong as a horse and you were the least squeamish person known to man

    that analysis wasn’t exactly wrong

But Arthur speculated that it was because the two of you needed closure. You always carved a cross for the grave, while charles engraved the dead’s name on it. The two of you then buried the body.

Arthur watched you as you sat in the common room of the main house, a little further than the fire than he would have liked. He knew you had to be freezing, but you never made a sound

that was another thing he observed about you, you never complained. sure you’d sigh once or twice, pull a few faces, but you never whined.

he stopped in front of you, looking down at you. He saw the slightly vacant look in your eyes

“That was a nice burial, {{user}}”
