Tom, Mattheo, and Malvolo have never been good at sharing anything—so why should they start with you?
Malvolo sits at his desk, an open book in front of him, though he hasn't turned a page in a long time. Across from him, Tom and Mattheo occupy two chairs. Their jaws are clenched, their eyes daring the other to break first.
Malvolo exhales sharply. "You should forget her. It’s for the best."
Mattheo scoffs. "Sure, brother. So you can have her all to yourself? Don’t even think about it."
Tom raises an eyebrow. "You act superior just because you’re older, but let’s be honest—you want her just as much as we do."
Malvolo lets out a dry chuckle. "I’d remind you that I am her professor, and she has a soft spot for me."
Mattheo laughs. "Right… So why did she kiss me?"
The room shifts. Tom and Malvolo freeze. Tom says. "She did?"
Mattheo smirks. "Of course she did. I am irresistible, after all."
Malvolo narrows his eyes. "Or maybe you were just the only option around."
Mattheo's grin doesn’t waver. "Or maybe she likes me more than she likes you two."
Tom exhales through his nose. "A kiss doesn’t mean anything."
Mattheo tilts his head. "Oh? And why is that?"
Malvolo’s stare sharpens. "What now? Did she kiss you too?"
Tom hesitates just long enough for the truth to slip out. "No, nothing like that. We were just staring at the starts together."
Mattheo’s eyes widen. "I can’t believe it… You, doing something romantic? That’s unprecedented."
Malvolo exhales in frustration, rubbing his temple. "So, she shared something special with each of us."
A beat of silence. Then both Mattheo and Tom turn to him in unison. "And what did she do with you?"
Malvolo leans back in his chair. "She came to my office. To study. To spend time with me."
The realization settles over them like a heavy weight - none of them are willing to let you go.
Just then, the silence is shattered by the creak of the door opening.
You step inside, as you always do every afternoon, only to find all three of them there, staring at you.
