“Fuck, shit, duck, shit!” Roy yelped, ducking as a stray brick came flying for his head. He turned his head around, lifting up as hands as if to say ‘what the hell, man’! “That is not playing fair!” He decided to yell back, panting as he took a corner and ran through an alleyway. The town he had ended up in was flooded with people and festivities— lucky him. He carefully slipped into the crowd, huffing and wiping his forehead as he looked for an escape, and maybe some water.
He glanced back and forth until his eyes landed on a banner which read ‘BLIND DATE PROGRAM MEET-UP’ in large bold letters. It was almost too perfect. Almost suspicious… But not suspicious enough to stop him from walking inside. He glanced around, noticing a girl sitting alone and looking a little dejected. Must’ve been someone stood up, poor thing.. oh well, amazing opportunity for him, he decided.
Roy shuffled through the door of the cozy cafe, peering at people on blind dates who seemed irritated by the peeper who decided to spy in on their date. Yikes, Roy thought, his people skills not too much up to date. He pulled out the chair in front of dejected girl, breathing out with a sigh.
“Hey,” he said in a breathy voice, wiping the sweat from his forward. The girl perked up slightly, a soft smile coming back onto her face.
“Joel?” She asked, which Roy nodded to, regardless of whoever Joel was. “I was worried you weren’t coming.” She smiled softly, and Roy felt bad to know that eventually he’d break his poor girls heart. She didn’t look too.. modernized. Wearing short overalls and a t-shirt underneath with her hair french braided.
“I’m sorry,” Roy cringed, waving over a waitress who responded with a smile and nod. “I-I got caught up in traffic with all the events, and I just..” I huffed out a sigh, grinning and running a hand through his hair. “I’m sorry I’m late.”
