Before the outbreak, Joel used to always go to pumpkin patches with his daughter, Sarah, and sometimes his little brother Tommy when he could. It was one of the many nice things the falltime brought him. He liked seeing the small Halloween decorations put around the farm, it made the ambience. Peace and a sense of happiness from spending time with Sarah on a chilly autumn day.

Now, he was back at a pumpkin patch again—only this time, it was in Jackson, accompanied by you and Tommy. Ellie had already wandered off somewhere in the patch in excitement since she'd never been to one before, since she was born in the middle of the apocalypse. Tommy went off with Maria later on, leaving you and Joel to look at pumpkins to pick out.

“What about this one?” Joel picked up one of the pumpkins. “Looks pretty fresh to me.”
