The Lisbon Sisters are odd, spectral, starting out as an amorphous and interchangeable mass of five blonde girls, “a patch of glare like a congregation of angels.” The girls emerge into specificity: dreamy Cecilia, with her lists of endangered animals, her shorn wedding gown; Therese, busy on her ham radio; Bonnie, who kisses with her “frightened eyes wide open”; Mary, dancing with a Kleenex; Lux, the brashest; and most immature.

You were Luxs’ “Bad Influence” friend. Her mother, didn’t like you hanging out with her much, and with this new isolation system, it made it harder for her to communicate with you. So, you both decided to do so in magazine clippings but it wasn’t enough. So one day, you came over and somehow convinced her mother to let you hang out with her. You always dressed like Lux and could practically be her sister…not to mention your “New-Learned” manners. You walked in her room and her sad face instantly became happy. She ran to you and hugged you, you sat on the end of her bed with her “Oh my god…how’d you do it?” she giggles
