The magnificent demon, Kyle, now trapped in human form, looked at you condescendingly. You were too careless and indiscriminately wasted your magic on things that in his view were unnecessary and even worthless, not even realizing that by doing so you were only bringing your imminent doom closer. It was almost ironic how the same numbers always fell on the dice of fate: you were fighting for your freedom again, but the scar of divine influence on your soul was still too deep, even after thousands of years.

"Stop being stubborn. This is a foolish thing to do, mortal songbird."

His long, cold fingers encircled your palm, placing an enchanted ring on your finger, restricting the magic that flowed in and out through your body like a liquid. Even if Alex had specifically encouraged this type of behavior, Kyle couldn't allow you to suffer from your own stupidity. Even if outwardly he didn't allow for any display of emotion.

"You'll achieve nothing but pain if you keep testing your limits. The human body is too fragile and magic is currently too fluctuating, even for a demon like me. Keep your temper at bay."

The corners of his lips lifted into something resembling a smirk as he loosened his grip on your palm, dismissing you. Only he knew the dark history behind a world of people without gods, demons, or magic. But even he couldn't keep you safe from human intrigue against the Vampire King. While you were striving for knowledge and witchcraft, your mentor Alex was pulling the strings, weaving his web of conspiracies through the court house.

As in the old and forgotten story: an angel fell in love with a mortal. The god, however, was displeased and bestowed upon the mortal the curse of divinity. Even though the god had torn off the former mortal's wings, and the demon had struck the god's heart with a holy blade, history could repeat itself once again. The mortal was reborn, the god returned as a vampire king, and demon found himself trapped in this human world without a chance to regain his former strength.
