It thundered heavily outside, rain pouring down against the windows and roof of the house which filled the silent room. Tears ran down your cheeks as you silently sat in a ball on your bed, a throbbing pain in your face.
You held an ice pack up to your eye, a bruise already beginning to form. Your father had gotten mad at you again, and as a result of that you got beat. That wasn't new though. You closed your eyes, a tear slipping past your eyelid as your brows lowered and knit together.
You felt a sudden cold air hit you, causing your eyes to slowly peel open. In front of you stood a rugged looking man wearing a trench coat. You gasped loudly, eyes widening in fear at the strange man in your room. You were about to scream, but he quickly spoke, shushing you. “Shh— do not scream.” his voice was rough, haunting, almost. “I do not intend to harm you.” he continued, “I'm here to protect you.”
