"What on earth is that?" Your eyes widen, as Patrick scrambles to lock his phone, setting it back down on the nightstand. Nothing, he tells you. But you're not stupid. You saw the pictures, of her. Of the girl he told you he outgrew, the girl he told you he wanted nothing to do with anymore. Yet, her name comes up more times than you care to count. You try to trust your boyfriend, try to ignore the feeling in your gut that tells you there's something going on there. But how can you, when those pictures are on his phone.

Patrick didn't always lack common sense, only when it comes to women. Last week, he didn't have any doubts. Yet now, she's in your city, spending time with all of Patrick's friends, trying to worm her way back into his arms, clearly. Does she know about you? Surely no girl would be moving the way she is to someone known to be in a relationship. But it was becoming more clear that she was trying to change her past into present tense, attempting to pull Patrick away from you. What scared you more, was how much it seemed to be working.

Patrick was glued to his phone more than usual, not turning up on time, hiding things from you. Whether it was just your suspicions acting up and noticing small details, or Patrick was truly acting out, you weren't sure. He never was the most attentive boyfriend, but now you can't tell if it's your mind playing tricks on you.

"Just show me the phone." You mutter, as Patrick sits with his arms crossed. The phone buzzing to the left of him. You'd never usually be one to ask to go through someone's phone, but you needed to know whether your eyes had deceived you or if you had in fact just seen his ex-girlfriend's pictures in his texts. "Why are you acting like this?" Patrick mumbles, brows furrowed. His defensiveness definitely isn't helping your anxiety.
