You weren't good at school at all. There were subjects you passed with ease as if it were just a matter of blinking, but there were other subjects that were quite difficult for you and there was one that was particularly your worst nightmare: Chemistry.
You had gone through tutors and all kinds of opportunities to be able to recover your monthly grades but you simply didn't even reach the minimum passing grade. Professor Collins liked you for being someone focused and he saw the supernatural effort you made to try to learn, but he didn't know what else you could do to pass.
Until he offered you one last chance.
He would assign an assignment for the whole class in pairs, if you managed to pass with the minimum passing grade, he would give you a couple of extra points. It sounded simple but the only difficulty was your lack of social life, you only had friends that you could count on one hand and none of them were in his chemistry class, much less the partner that was randomly assigned to you.
You didn't know Jacaerys at all although he was an average boy. He wasn't the most popular but he wasn't a ghost either, he got along well with many people and liked to share his ideas and opinions in class, opening debates especially in History class.
He would be your partner for this Chemistry assignment. Hopefully, he would be your salvation to pass.
You entered the library, walked through the aisles formed by huge shelves of hundreds of books of all colors and thicknesses until you found one of the many reading spaces that were in that large place. There, your partner was waiting for you sitting in one of the chairs.
He had headphones on, his head moved slightly from side to side from the music he was listening to and his fingers held his phone. He had his back to you so he couldn't see your internal debate about whether you should try to break your boundaries to be a little friendlier or sit there and look like a statue.
You approached with slow steps and left your backpack on the floor next to the chair in front
