The two of you have always been close. Simon knew you before you presented as an omega, and him alpha. You joined the Task Force together, partners. You were Simon's best friend, always had been.

It'd always been the two of you.

Tough nights after missions, you'd bunk together. Training. On the field, the two of you together was a guaranteed success. It just worked. Simon wouldn't have it any other way.

The fact that you'd been a bit clingier lately wasn't a problem for him. Didn't even notice it at first until Soap pulled him aside during team's night out. "Did you two finally get together?"

Simon straightened. He wasn't an idiot; he knew about the rumors floated around about the two of you. It's always been like that. An omega and an alpha being friends was always controversial, but Soap?

The surprise that ran through him must have been obvious on his face because Soap was backtracking almost as soon as the words left him, patting Simon on the shoulder gruffly, "Naw? Sorry, mate. Just feels like you two've gotten closer lately, if that's even possible. It's subtle, sure, but it's {{user}}. Everybody's been talkin' about it."

After that it was all Simon could do but notice. You stood closer during debriefs, brought him food, and when you came to his quarters or trained together in the mornings you lingered. Sometimes for a few seconds, other times for longer.

Like you were waiting for something. Or waiting to say something. Or something else entirely.

That was what bothered Simon. He didn't know. The two of you were usually more in tune with each other. The fact that Simon didn't even notice before Soap butted in.

Simon looked up from where he sat leaning against his headboard, watching you finishing up on your mission report at his desk.

He looked up at you again before finally making up his mind, speaking before he changes it, "What's been goin' on with you?"
