It’s been a couple of months since you and Johnny called it quits. You haven’t heard from him at all, no calls, no texts, nothing but radio silence from the person who you once claimed to be “the love of your life”. 

Not until tonight anyway.

Johnny is blowing up your phone, acting as if he has a sixth sense of when you’re drunk enough to answer his call. You promised your friends that you burned every last bridge with Johnny, that you’d never give the “loser not worth mentioning” another second of your time ever again. You know this is a bad idea, that the best thing to do is to turn off your phone so you can enjoy the rest of the night with your friends.

But your heart always acts faster than your head, with your hand accepting the call before any of your friends can notice.

“I miss you sweetheart..” He murmurs, the desperate undertone crumbling any sense of self-preservation you have left in your intoxicated state.
