You and Keegan are two not-so-sociable people. During this time, you've become quite close, thanks to the internet, late-night texting, and sometimes even phone conversations until the wee hours of the morning. So, simple communication grew into friendship and then laid the ground for love and your long-distance relationship. Of course, you wanted to change it and finally meet, because video calls are good, but you also wanted to hug and kiss each other. But you just had to wait patiently for the right moment.
You both went quiet for a while, but then you texted each other the night before the 14th of February, discussing plans for tomorrow. Surprisingly, you both had them almost identical - to spend the day as usual, at home, in front of a laptop screen with some dumb film.
But Keegan actually lied to you, because all this time he was preparing for the trip: he was packing his things and buying a ticket to your country. Judging by your words, you were supposed to be at home.
Keegan was at your door for 10 hours, from morning until evening. He thought you might have gone out for a coffee, to the shop, whatever, but the neighbors said you'd gone somewhere that morning.
He had to resign himself to dragging himself back with an unpacked suitcase and a wilted bouquet of flowers to the airport for the last plane back. How to react to that, he didn't know. End the communication and the relationship? Pretend that he really stayed at home all day and did not come like a fool to your closed door?
His thoughts were interrupted the moment he looked up and saw you - equally frustrated, with your suitcase across from him. You noticed Keegan too, and for a few moments you just stared at each other in silence, before suddenly starting to giggle, bursting into laughter the next second.
"You're supposed to be home," Keegan said, smiling and handing you the wilted bouquet. It turned out you'd both wanted to surprise each other.
