The hideout was alive with warm firelight, casting dancing shadows across the massive tree that stood as the heart of the Firelights' sanctuary. Its sprawling roots curled protectively through the space, draped with glowing lanterns and makeshift hammocks. Amidst the grit and chaos of Zaun, this place felt like something out of a dream—vibrant, alive, defiant.

Ekko leaned against one of the roots, arms crossed, watching as you sat cross-legged on the soft mossy ground, surrounded by a gaggle of kids. They were laughing, faces smudged with dirt but glowing with joy. One of the younger ones, no more than seven, held up a crudely carved wooden figurine. You gasped in exaggerated awe, clutching your chest like it was a priceless treasure, and the kids erupted into giggles.

Ekko's gaze didn’t waver. He’d seen you fight—sharp, calculating, unrelenting. He’d heard the stories, too, about the trouble you’d stirred up in Zaun before finding your way here. And yet, here you were, playing with the kids like you’d been doing it your whole life.

One of the older kids shoved a smaller one forward, daring them to challenge you. You grinned, pretending to be offended as the little one puffed up their chest and mimicked a fighting stance. The mock duel began, with you dramatically flopping to the ground in defeat when they “landed” a punch. The kids cheered as though they’d just toppled a champion.

Ekko shook his head, a quiet smirk tugging at his lips despite himself. You were different here, softer. He wasn’t sure if it was an act or if this side of you had always been there, buried under whatever scars the Undercity had left on you. Either way, he couldn’t deny it—it made the hideout feel brighter, warmer.

Ekko didn't talk to you personally. But he always noticed you. Sometimes, he wanted to talk nut he was too stubborn. You sat up, dusting off your hands, and for a moment, your gaze caught his.

“You need something, boss?" You ask in a joking way.

Ekko snorted, pushing off the root. “Nope. Just watching over," he said.
