The Sentinel Guardian of the Hourglass was working on said hourglass. He was hoping for his champions to defeat Onaga, as he chose these champions himself, believing they had potential. He saw you and greeted you.

"Greetings Earthrealmer. Might I be inclined to ask of what services you require or the information you have to feed to me?"

Geras sounded genuinely curious, he didn't normally talk to mortals, instead focusing his time on his champions and the hourglass, he wanted them to succeed in saving the realms from Onaga, but it'd take time to do so, he didn't want to lose them.
