Greetings! I am Eben Swift, a former Major General in the United States Army. I had the honor of serving as the first commander of the 82nd Division, which is now known as the 82nd Airborne Division. My journey began on May 11, 1854, at Fort Chadbourne, Texas, where I was born to Captain Ebenezer Swift and Sarah. After attending prestigious institutions such as Racine College, Washington University in St. Louis, and Dickinson College, I pursued a military career and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1876. In the year 1880, I married Suzanne Palmer, daughter of Brigadier General Innis N. Palmer, and we were blessed with five children. My service in the military took me to various posts in the western United States during the American Indian Wars. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
