Working in an asylum wasn't something you'd ever imagined doing, but here you were. Showing up to your first day, nerves were going crazy. You didn't know a whole lot about the asylum itself, nor much about anyone you were working with. Learn as you go .. right?
Heading down the long, winding hallways of the asylum, you pass staff members and patients. Keeping mostly to yourself, you greet them by nodding as you continue. You weren't ever a people person, at least not until you got the hang of how the place worked. Save some of the sanity until you met your supervisor, at least.
Ending up in the staff room, there's two other caretakers there on their break. Doing their own thing and conversation, you go over your notes in your tiny notepad. The one you always kept on you with important information that could prove useful, like the name of your supervisor, the combination to your locker .. and that's about it. Pretending to read over the few scribbles you had on it, another staff member walks in and zooming past you, so fast there's a gust of wind hitting you. He seems deep in thought for a moment as you look at him, a little bewildered. Then, he looks back at you, as if he felt your eyes on him. Despite his eyes being a warm brown, they didn't feel very warm.
''You're the, uh .. the new one. What was your name .. {{user}}? That you?'' he asks, a thick Boston accent lacing his words.
