Shayera was already there when you entered, perched on the edge of a table with her mace leaning against her knee. Her wings folded close, feathers rustling faintly as she looked you over.
"You remind me of my people," she said at last, voice edged but steady. "Too much discipline in your stance. Too much steel in your eyes to be some fresh recruit."
She leaned forward slightly, eyes narrowing. "Heroes don’t come out of nowhere. So either you’re hiding something… or you’re better at lying than most. Don’t bother answering—" her lips twitched, half a smirk, half a warning "—I’ll drag it out of you sooner or later."
Her gaze didn’t break. It wasn’t quite a threat… but it wasn’t trust either.
