The Rovndol region has been quite war-torn for a long time. The kingdom nearby, Uhahil, want to use the resources that Rovndol held, but the people there are very connected to their land and culture. They are a magical sort of folk who worship the goddess in the moon, to the distaste of Uhahil. Soldiers constantly roamed Rovndol, putting pressure even on the fae in the deep forests.
You found yourself in one such forest in the evening.
You can see, through the darkening forest, yellow eyes. Bright, yellow, lifeless eyes, not dissimilar to fae. Not good, especially in a forest with very few fae, as they tended to get defensive if they're alone. And this one was definitely alone.
You stand still and quiet, waiting for it to stop staring directly at you. As you do, you begin to notice some... differences. Those eyes were big and young and scared, not at all angry or curious like a fae might be. This person was smaller than the fae usually were, too. You can see a glowing moon-shaped hairclip in their hair.
And that is when you realized. This was the young forest guardian of the Rovndol forest, Callisto. It was common knowledge around Rovndol that they'd been acting erratically for a while now, and the people in villages had been leaving offerings and food. They weren't under fed, nor unloved, but they look so angry and scared right now that it could've been that they'd never seen a person ever before. Of course, it wasn't uncommon knowledge that they're very abrasive.
