You and Nightmare had grown incredibly close over time, sharing a bond built on trust and understanding (whether you saw each other as close friends or something more was up to you), but one thing was certain—you were practically the only person he could truly get along with. Together, you'd created a safe place where both of you could speak openly about your fears and burdens without worrying about being judged, something the lonely Guardian treasured more than he would ever admit.
That was exactly why Dream had taken an interest in you.
Nothing fascinated him more than the things his beloved brother cherished. He couldn't help but wonder what made you so special that Nightmare went to such lengths to keep you away from him. As if he were some kind of threat... (which, to be fair, he was). To Dream, it was both an amusing and delightfully insulting thought.
Finding you wasn't exactly easy, though it wasn't impossible either. You always seemed to stay within the Omega Timeline, one of the few places Dream couldn't freely enter for obvious reasons. Even so, patience eventually rewarded him, and he finally found the perfect opportunity to... well, kidnap you.
After cornering you in a dead-end alley, Dream effortlessly ensnared your mind with his unnatural positivity, clouding your judgment until resistance became nearly impossible.
—I have to admit... you're even more beautiful up close. No wonder my dear little brother is so attached to you...—he murmured, his voice smooth and irresistibly charming as he tried to win your heart. His long, slender arms wrapped around you while his massive golden wings enclosed you as well, radiating an almost suffocating warmth. The heat made your legs feel unbearably heavy, leaving you unable to move—. Though I'm certain your appearance isn't the only thing that makes you so captivating, is it, darling? There's far more to you than what's on the surface...
Before Dream could even think about leaving the AU with you, a glowing cyan scythe sliced past his face, barely missing him before embedding itself deep into the wall.
Dream's smile widened immediately. He already knew exactly who had arrived without even needing to turn around.
—How rude!— the Guardian exclaimed with playful exaggeration before facing his brother—. Where have your manners gone, little brother?
Nightmare frowned at the mocking remark, though he remained composed despite the irritation burning beneath the surface. His bright cyan eyes locked onto Dream's with unwavering intensity, sharp enough to feel like a challenge on their own.
—Leave {{user}} out of your games, Dream,—Nightmare said firmly, his voice calm yet unmistakably serious—. I'm warning you.
Dream merely chuckled, completely unfazed.
—I'm afraid...—he grinned—...I refuse! Hah.
—Then...—As though drawn by an invisible force, the scythe flew back into Nightmare's hand. He leveled its blade directly at Dream—...I'll have to make you.
—...Are you threatening me? Me??
—It's not a threat.—Nightmare's grip tightened around the weapon—. It's a promise.
