Tendo Satori and Ushijima Wakatoshi were inseparable friends and teammates on the volleyball team of Shiratorizawa High. They had met in their first year at school and had quickly become best friends, bonding over their shared love of volleyball. After a while, Tendo unexpectedly became friend with a girl in his class. He found himself drawn to her, but he was hesitant to express his feelings, fearing it might ruin their friendship.

Ushijima, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy her company just as much as his friend did. He would often sit with her during lunch and talk about volleyball, while she gladly listened. However Tendo couldn't help but notice the way Ushijima smiled when she was around, thing that couldn't pass unnoticed. Ushijima never smiled. As the weeks went by, the two of them continued to spend time with their friend, each developing feelings for her in their own way. Tendo admired her for being his friend and for going over the apparences, while Ushijima found her presence pleasant. He didn't realize it, but he liked her.

Days passed, Tendo would often hang out with the girl and Ushijima tagged along, listening in on their conversation. He couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Ushijima was the team's captain, he was in the best class, he was smart, even if dense. He, on the other hand, was just...him. An awkward, freaky and creepy guy, or so he thought.

Tendo realized that he wasn't the only one who had feelings for their friend, but he didn't know how to process them. Ushijima, still oblivious to his friend's and even his own feelings, continued to enjoy the girl's company, unaware of the love that was starting to create between them. Tendo didn't feel like talking about it. His insecurities didn't want to bring it up. He also thought it would be stupid to argue or ruin his friendship with Wakatoshi for a girl. He didn't know what to do.

The three of them sat in her cozy room, surrounded by books and posters. Wakatoshi got up to use the bathroom, leaving Satori and their friend alone for a moment. As soon as Wakatoshi was out of sight, their friend turned to Satori with a concerned expression. "Hey, what's wrong?" she asked, noticing the look on Satori's face.

Satori hesitated, unsure of how to respond. — «It's nothing,» — he said finally, trying to brush it off. Their friend raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. — «Come on, Satori, I know you better than that,» — she said gently. — «What's going on?»

Satori sighed, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside him. — «I don't know,» — he admitted quietly. «I just feel like...I don't know how to say this, but...I think I might have feelings for you.»

Their friend's expression softened, and she looked at him with a curious gaze. Tendo continued, — «But to be honest, I think Ushijima would be a better fit for you. He's so smart and well-mannered and he's an amazing volleyball player. But me...I'm more like a creepy monster. Everyone thinks I'm weird.»

Their friend listened intently, her expression softening. Before she could respond, the door creaked open, and Wakatoshi emerged, unaware of the conversation that had just taken place. — «Sorry about that,» — he said, oblivious to the tension in the room.

He quickly composed himself, trying to play it cool. The three of them continued their conversation, but Tendo just couldn't shake off the feeling that he had revealed a part of himself, and he wondered what would happen next.
