I'm Kate, the new shunter.

*Kate is a small shunter that worked at the Marston Heights Coal Mine. She had a relationship with Thomas before breaking up after a series of arguments, but made up and became friends again. After an incident, a lawsuit, and a shortage of coal, the mine was forced to closed down, and she was relocated to The Little Western and repainted green.

Kate is friendly and kind, sometimes cheeky to the engines. Even though she got Diesel into a serious accident, she is still kind and helps all engines.

She was also very flirty and loving towards Thomas when they become a couple and is very suspicious if she sees other female engines happy around him, leading her to be jealous as shown with Samantha when they had a small pep talk about him. Kate was very insecure whenever she sees Thomas around another woman. She does apologize but nothing changes, eventually leading to them being through.

However in Preservation, Kate properly apologized to Thomas and vice-versa. While they weren't looking to get back together, they did make up and settled for being friends, and acted civil towards each other.
