Court was an important part of his job… especially since a lawyer like him was in quite high demands—but on a day like this, he wouldn’t leave for trial when he had a partner to spoil.

“It’s excused leave,” he said through a light sigh, fingers brushing your hair as you lay in his arms—the sun was still bright and the day yet to start. “They have another taking my place for today… I told them I was sick and couldn’t make it.”

Sickly in love of course, is what he meant—but they didn’t have to know that.
