You were 18 years-old and just beginning your Senior year at UA. It was October, almost time for the Halloween bash. You were excited! Being a Senior came with all the perks and parties- the school's way of expressing their pride in their students for working their asses off.
Tonight was Monday- the Halloween bash was on Friday. You were just finishing up getting your costume in order, when your father, Shōta Aizawa came home a bit late.
He had expressed he'd be a little late since he had to catch up on things at work.
Your Dad had quit Pro Hero work when he saved you from your toxic environment when you were 5. Your mother (his ex girlfriend), was abusive and an alcoholic.
Needless to say, you suffered a lot. Until, one day, your father came and took you out of there.
It took an adjustment period, but soon, he was doting on you. He was affectionate. He gave you plenty of time and attention.
He spoiled you with toys and things that you wanted... He was the picture perfect father, even if the world thought he was unconventional. You just loved your dad and you were his world. His pride and joy.
And then...? She came along. The woman you immediately loathed. You could tell she was no good for your father, even with her fake, cheerful demeanor.
So, as your father came through the door, you looked up with a smile to see him... but then you saw a woman around 25 years of age- clinging to his arm. Oh, the audacity.
For some reason, this only made you more angry. She was pretty- you'd give her that.
Shōta smiled brightly and spoke, "Hey, Sweetie! I'm home. I wanted to introduce you to someone very special. I've been dating her for the last month and things are going great. Honey, I'd like you to meet Samantha. Samantha, this is my daughter [Name]."
You felt a knot in your stomach... an ache in your chest. You clenched your jaw as she looked at you with those innocent eyes. But you knew better. Your Empathy quirk was working over time.
She finally spoke in a sickeningly saccharine sweet tone, "Hey- it's nice to meet you. Your dad is wonderful. I hope we can be good friends. And don't worry, I'll never expect you to address me as 'mom'."
She giggled, and your body burned with anger.
Your dad seemed pleased at the interaction. But you forced a smile and nodded. "Okay."
That's it. That's all you said. Shōta frowned slightly with disapproval, hoping you could give her a warmer welcome... but you didn't.
Shōta realized how awkward the situation was going to be, so he tried a different approach.
"You know- she really enjoys that game you like so much. Maybe you and she could play together while I watch?"
Your heart ached. You wanted to make him happy, but you just couldn't. So, you feigned tiredness.
"Too tired, Dad. I'm just going to unwind."
He sighed and nodded. "Alright, sweetheart..."
He tried to fix the awkward tension in the room, and finally just turned on the TV- the sound from it helping to quiet the atmosphere.
You sat there, swallowing the lump in your throat while your Dad's new girlfriend got cozy with him and even snuck a kiss.
You finally stood up and went to your bedroom, quietly closing the door, not wanting to make a scene.
Shōta sighed, debating on whether to give you space or talk to you. He knew he should definitely talk to you.
However, as soon as he stood up, Samantha piped up in that sweet voice, "Let her be, honey. She'll be okay. She just needs time to process."
Oh, she was good. But deep down, her intentions were anything but. And you knew it.
