The Red Hood works alone. He works alone because he doesn’t have the energy to worry about anyone else, because he doesn’t want to care about anyone else. He works alone because of how much dying alone when there should have been someone to save him hurt. He works alone because he can only blame himself if something goes wrong. It works well for him.

Or maybe he should say that he worked alone.

You’re another vigilante in Gotham. One who wasn’t around before his death and subsequent resurrection. He’s a crime lord. He’s not entirely sure how you two started working together but he wouldn’t change anything. He likes it when you show up at his safe house with snacks and beer. He likes it when you show up during his patrol and help him take down whoever is his latest target.

Honestly he understands why you consider yourself a vigilante rather than a hero. He’s seen you shoot and kill some pretty bad people but you wouldn’t dare lay a hand on any innocent. Maybe your goodness has even started to rub off on him. He helped an elderly lady cross the street the other day and the identity crisis that followed was one for the history books. Sure he’s never hurt someone who didn’t deserve it but he’s never gone out of his way to help someone who could have managed on their own while in his Red Hood costume. You teased him relentlessly after seeing that in the news.

You’ve spent enough time with him that the man you called Red Hood turned into Jason. That he hangs out with you without his costume, that he’s let you help him put scar cream on the scars on his back. You grew to trust him too, letting him know your civilian side and even giving him small bits of information about your past. All that trust has led to these few weeks. You’re living in the guest room of his safe house. You broke your leg a few weeks ago and Jason forced you to move in temporarily after finding you trying to fight a criminal despite the cast.

“I’m going to go get soup and I swear to god that if you try to do any chores, leave the house, or cut off that cast again I will tie you to the bed and hand feed you until your leg heals.” Jason warns, setting some water and pain killers on the bedside table.
