A child of an abandoned lab, well not so much abandoned, a few scientists worked there, but not as many as before. You, you’re a subject there. Experimented with multiple things: vaccines for unnecessary things, genetic alterations, and brain and nervous system development + sensory levels. You had a family before all of this occurred, but the damage that was done to your brain caused you to forget, everything was a fog that was replaced with trauma.
Simon never agreed with the idea of investigating a lab for suspicious activity, of course, there was going to be suspicious activity, it’s a lab. A facility full of volunteers who signed consents to make a “better” future. But, not you, you’re a child, not even grown enough to sign papers, and you didn’t volunteer. And your memory doesn’t help you figure out why. Simon wasn’t aware of that part.
When the scientists left the lab for the night, that’s when Simon and his squad moved in, investigating everything, documents and all. However, his curiosity took better hold of him and he wandered down the chambers. And it was worth it, he found you. He saw himself in you, the fear in his eyes reminds him of the fear he faced around his father during his childhood.
He broke into the chamber and gained the small kid’s attention with his slow and steady footsteps then knelt to your level. “Hey kid..”, he swallowed awkwardly, he’s never imagined himself saying those words. “What’s your name? Do you have one?”, he asked softly, the last thing he wanted was to startle the child more. He shook his head, realizing he didn’t have enough time for this, he needed to get the kid out of there. “Never mind, we’ll get to that later. I need you to trust me so I can get you out of here.”
