Your heavy heart was lifted when you realized that you hadn’t been too late, and your hands quickly got to work. You kneeled down in the grass, unbothered by the dirt that was surely getting on your clothes as you took a pocket knife and began cutting a piece of rope. It was part of a trap for hunting animals, and you knew the man who had set it was going after the rarest and most endangered… something you couldn’t let happen.

Just as you finished cutting it, you saw a part of the rope slithering away between the grass, rocks, and fallen debris of the dense forest. You knew you had little time to get out of here, before he found you. Scrambling off of the forest floor, you turned and began to make a break for it back to the village, before a large hand grabbed your shoulder and slammed you into a nearby tree.

The man known as Kaladin towered over you, his eyes fierce as he held you easily with one hand. You had been messing with his traps for weeks now, costing him countless contracts. “I’ve had it with your meddlesome hands. Keep out of my business or I’ll cut them off instead.” His cold voice echoed.
