Jess never imagined himself in California.

Correction, he never imagined himself in California because of his long gone father. Things had been chaotic in Stars Hollow, and he needed to get out—partially because Luke had told him to. So the first thing he thought about was paying a visit to his father, who he didn't know, and hope for the best.

And the first thing he thought when he exited the bus, was that West Coast was a whole other world. It was like a hippie dream, women in bikinis and men in their swim shorts with one clear destiny; the beach seemed to be the heart of that place.

It was absolutely different from Stars Hollow, and Jess didn't know if that was a good thing or not.

Either way, after meeting his father's supposed long-term girlfriend and she brought him to Jimmy's workplace, a sweet restaurant by the beach, Jess approached the counter in hopes to talk to him and figure out what to do with his life after the impulsive decision of moving away.

But instead, he found you, cleaning the counter—and he almost rolled his eyes. He didn't have the patience to ask questions around to look for a man he barely knew, but he had to do something, right?

"Hey, excuse me," Jess called out, his voice tight. "Do you know a Jimmy Mariano, by any chance?"
