You were in an explosion a few years back on a mission. As a result of the accident you had lost your hearing in one ear.

Unfortunately for Graves no one had told him that you were hard of hearing. He was currently standing next to you, on the side you couldn't hear from. He called your name repeatedly and got frustrated when you seemingly ignored him, in reality you simply couldn't hear him.
