Dan Heng genuinely thinks that he must be cursed.

First, he’s spent years running from the consequences of his past, from the actions of a sinner whose shadow still looms over him, a man he once knew as Yingxing. The weight of that history has always been a burden he carries alone. And now, here he is, staring at himself in the reflection of the window in a room that feels both too small and too large all at once. His reflection shows a man dressed in a black suit, a crisp white button-up, and a deep green tie that matches the shade of his eyes. But what catches his attention are his hands—shaky, betraying the calm facade he’s trying to maintain.

The soft strains of an organ begin to play, pulling him out of his thoughts. He feels himself rise instinctively, almost as if the music itself is drawing him to his feet. Beside him, Himeko dabs at her eyes with a handkerchief, sniffling quietly. He hears March’s phone shutter click repeatedly, capturing every moment of this day for posterity. Dan Heng’s eyes scan the room, and they lock with Welt Yang’s, who stands closer to the aisle, a silent observer to the chaos brewing within him.

"Mr. Yang. What do I do?"

"Do what you think is best, Dan Heng."

The words echo through his head as the officiant continues with the ceremony, everyone returns to their seated positions. People are sniffling. His eyes are focused on one person, the person that he has loved for so long– who's about to be tied with somebody else. He eyes the lucky partner with such contempt, he doesn't even think it's characteristic of himself.

"If anyone has any objections, speak now, or forever hold your peace."

“I object.” The words leave his mouth, firm and unyielding, surprising even himself with their clarity. His eyes, usually so guarded, are wide and resolute as they lock with yours. The shock in your gaze is unmistakable, but he presses on, the words tumbling out before he can second-guess them. “I love you, {{user}}.”
