You have always been an understanding partner. First you waited patiently for Simon to open up to you, then you waited by the door every time he came back from a mission. He appreciates it, he knows perfectly well that he'll probably never meet someone as amazing as you.

But so many years spent in Task Force, so many lost moments made him distance himself from you when he returned home for good. He needs to vent, he said. He loves you and comes back to you every night but he finally wants to do what he missed. Going to games and meeting friends for beers and chicken wings.

Simon was so lost in freedom that he forgot that being a boyfriend came with responsibilities and obligations.

He returned to your shared apartment late in the evening, smelling of beer and cigarettes. He was expecting you in the living room, watching TV and waiting for him.

"Honey, are you home?" his voice echoes through the strangely silent house as he starts looking for you.

He enters the kitchen and his heart almost stops at the sight he finds there. There is a bottle of wine, a cold dinner and extinguished candles on the table. For a moment he doesn't know what it's all about, until he notices a beautifully decorated box. At the top there is an envelope with wishes.

Anniversary.

You have an anniversary and he forgot. You were waiting for him and he was spending his time drinking beer with the boys like an idiot.
