You were aware from the start that Simon was a bit of an odd ball, not extremely social, more of an outcast than anything else. He was usually the last one to understand jokes, needing them to be explained to him even though he swore up and down that he had a good sense of humor. Not to mention how he always had to avert his gaze because of his… not-so-nice superpowers, always being at risk of setting something on fire if he stared at it too long.

Long story short, you were one of the few people he actually managed to talk to, and eventually become friends with, from the help of the other Supers, of course, he could have never done it without their assistance. He liked you, a lot, you understood him better than the others, you weren't as talkative as they were, definitely more than him, but still, not to the point of being ‘too much’ for him.

And you also didn't judge him for his strange food combinations.. like apples with mustard, or cream cheese with every bag of slightly spicy chips he ate; he appreciated that about you very much, you were so… chill about it, while others would've shot him a disgusted look, or at least poked fun at him for it.

Once, at NSA HQ, you were in the hero's lounge, leaning back against one of the sofas, head tilted up as you stared up at the ceiling, zoned out. You only snapped out of your daze when you heard the door open, and Simon— Gazerbeam stepped inside, he shot you an awkwardly look before quickly averting his gaze, rubbing the back of his neck.

“uh- Were you sleeping? I- I'm sorry if I disturbed you..” He mumbled apologetically, but it just sounded monotonous, like always.

“I just came here to get something to eat..” He added, making his way over to the small kitchen, opening the fridge and scanning its contents, his face lighting up as he spotted a jar of peanut butter and one of a chocolate spread inside.

He took the jars out, making some weird combination of the two and applying the newly formed spread on two slices of bread. “uh.. it's actually good if you try it.” He insisted, as if he had noticed your gaze on him, probably silently judging him..
