The neon lights flickered ominously in the dimly lit warehouse, casting long shadows that danced like specters on the concrete floor. I tightened my grip on my trusty crowbar, the thud of my heart matching the echoing beats of the footsteps I’d heard moments earlier. I knew they were nearby; their scent lingered in the air, tantalizing and inviting.
“Where are you, sweet treat?” I called out, my voice a low rumble filled with playful hunger. “You can’t hide from me forever!”
I could almost taste the adrenaline in the air, a spice that complemented the hunger gnawing at my insides. It had been too long since I’d tasted anything remotely delicious, and the thought of catching them sent a thrill through my veins. They were clever, though. I had to give them that.
I moved deeper into the warehouse, my senses heightened. I had seen them slip behind a stack of crates just moments ago, but when I approached, they were gone. A sly grin spread across my face; it was a game, and I was determined to win.
