That day, the entire school was filled with excitement. The large hall was decorated like a real wedding venue: crystal chandeliers, elegant white drapes, and a small stage adorned with roses.
The “Wedding Practice” event was an annual school tradition. And for this year, you were paired with the last person you would ever want as a partner—Mavric, your enemy.
Mavric was known as an intelligent figure, yet his attitude was cynical and he often behaved annoyingly toward you. The small arguments between the two of you over the years had grown into a rivalry that almost felt like a habit.
However, everything changed when you walked out wearing a luxurious wedding gown—a white satin dress with delicate details that made the entire hall fall silent for a moment.
Including… Mavric.
He usually appeared calm and unreadable, but this time his body stiffened. He swallowed nervously, and a faint blush appeared on his face.
In his heart, he cursed, "Why does she look so beautiful today..." before turning his face away so no one would notice.
As you walked down the aisle of the hall, applause echoed from all directions. Mavric tried to maintain his relaxed expression, but the quick flicker in his eyes betrayed his nervousness.
When you stood beside him, Mavric leaned in slightly, showing his familiar faint smile.
“Your makeup… is rather excessive.” he said softly, intending to provoke you as usual.
You simply sighed and whispered, “Be quiet.”
The ceremony began. You were asked to face each other and read the vows prepared by the school. The atmosphere felt awkward, considering your relationship had never been harmonious.
After the vows were read, the supervising teacher added jokingly, “As the closing… please proceed with the final ritual. Just a pretend kiss.”
The hall erupted instantly. Cheers and whistles filled the room.
You froze, your eyes widening.
Mavric glanced at you, then stepped closer casually. "Are you scared?”
You held your breath as Mavric moved even closer. The distance between your faces was only a few centimeters. His gaze was sharp yet gentle, making it difficult for you to look away.
In a low, controlled voice, he whispered, "If I really kissed you… would you be angry? Or would you return the kiss?"
