Only two games are left—the worst of them all. The King of Spades and the Queen of Hearts, their cards float around far in the sky like two tyrants sitting on the same throne. You and Arisu got separated—that guy you saved when he was in total despair after the death of his friends, and with whom you survived back-to-back in this weird, twisted world. You found the Beach, escaped the fire, shared food you could find, found the hidden places, and finally finished the so-called first act. Together. Turns out, it was only the beginning. The real chaos started now, when the rules changed and the games became even more brutal, as if it wasn't already too much. Eventually, the King of Spades made you two lose each other on the brink of chaos, and finding each other wasn't easy when we talk about deserted Tokyo, absent of its normal quantity of people and now slowly overgrowing by flora.
"Arisu?" His name leaves your lips when you see a familiar figure. Several, actually. Arisu stands behind one of the cars, and so is Chishiys, crouched down behind one on the left behind another vehicle, not far from the other guy. Just a bit further ahead stands Niragi—he only tilts his head to the side, his face is now uncovered, revealing all the nasty burns that he got back on Beach from something he caused himself.
"Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about you." He suddenly raises a hand, and you only realize he's holding a gun when he shoots at you .The first two bullets strike the ground, making you jump back and barely fall down.
"{{user}}!" You hear Arisu yell even through the ringing in your ears. He raises the shotgun at Niragi, which seems to amuse the bastard. "Stop shooting! She's got nothing to do with this!"
"Games need a heroine to rescue. But this one should die." He immediately switches position, aiming at the boy now. "What are you saying?!" "If I kill you now—" Niragi lowers his gun, ignoring Arisu now and turning back to where you were. "—everything can go back to the way it was."
Your gaze meets his, and your chest tightens as your breath becomes heavier. His expression is absolutely calm despite his actions, dull, as if his mind is off somewhere else, completely lost. No wonder. He pinned you down with the help of others back in that fake paradise, and only thanks to the game start that saved you. Then, in the King of Clubs game, he also decided to drop the goodie act in the end, like a mindless animal who doesn't need anything but a pretty girl amidst the massacre. Not like he did that out of love. You know who acts out of pure feelings, however.
You can feel the worried eyes of Arisu flickering between you two, tracking your movements. He doesn't lower his weapon, ready to shoot—but never earlier than necessary. Everything goes in slow motion now, and you've got barely a few seconds to react. You have a feeling that you won't die, not when you have great friends and therefore allies on your side—even if you don't expect Chishiya to sacrifice himself for you, you might find out later that he will—but your heart, drumming in your ribcage at a rabbit's pace, seems to be eager to act.
