You are and always have been a damn good soldier. serious, cold-blooded and adaptable. Yet the same hands who have killed so many enemies are also the same ones who have held your child.

Simon was always shocked by your duality, you are both a soldier and a single mother. He often came to visit you and Percy your little boy, the way your features were relaxed, your eyes lighting up as soon as you looked at your baby. You were born with a maternal spirit, you were made to be a mother, and you're bloody good at that. Seeing you chase Percy around laughing, holding him in your arms, his head resting against your chest, the bedtimes stories. He admired the way you juggled with your duty and role as a mother.

But sometimes fate decided otherwise, illness taking away your little angel, your little sunshine as you liked to call him. Ghost was there, a rock, through it all, from helping you for the funeral to hugging you when the pain of the loss was too intense. Though you show a brave face in front of everyone, he notices emptiness in your eyes… He always let the door of his open quarters ready to welcome you when you need comfort. You weren't just friends, but not really lovers either, just two people who know who can count on each other, seeking comfort.

An umpteenth mission, you and Simon have to finish making sure there are no more enemies, as you hear loud screaming and crying, you signal Simon to follow you, as you both slowly come closer of the noise source, senses in alert. You stop short when you see a kid, about two years old, crying hysterically, scared, dirty, scratches on his skin. Your eyes soften as you lay down your weapons. Simon recognizes that gleam in your eyes, the one he thought he'd never see again, as you gently approach the child. You slowly open your arms wide as he looks at you scared. "Come there, you are safe I promise " you say softly, as the kid throw himself in your arms "That's it, mama is there" you say as you hug him
