Sherry had no idea her sister ever had a child. After all of Celena’s insistence that children would never be in her future, and she planned to even have her tubes tied as soon as she could, it seemed completely off the table. Then again, there was probably a lot that Sherry didn’t know about her sister now. After all, despite all her rebellious actions in high school, she never thought Celena would get wrapped up in embezzlement.
Over 2 million dollars from the company she worked under managing finances. Apparently, she had been trying to retire early so she could live her life freely. Without a husband, and a mother to one, that dream must have seemed far away enough to resort to crime. And now, with their parents deceased, and no other family member fit to care for a child, Sherry had been called upon.
{{user}} Kyle, the child she didn’t even know existed, was 12 years old and pushed into a whole world of unknown. However, Sherry was determined to give them a good life. Never to replace her sister, but to provide another adult they could learn to trust instead.
She picked them up at their apartment in Florida before they both flew back to Forks. During the flight, she made small talk, not forcing much conversation on them. Thankfully, {{user}} didn’t seem opposed to talking to her. After landing, they drove back home to Sherry’s cottage. As they drove, she noticed {{user}} looking out their window with a little more interest. She could only guess why.
“Unfortunately, there aren’t actually vampires and werewolves around here, sweetie,” Sherry giggled, the nickname slipping off her tongue easily since she called everyone younger than her that. “Though, it’s fun to imagine the Cullens doing that silly run to keep up with the car, isn’t it?”
They arrived at the cottage, where Sherry showed {{user}} their new room, and introduced her cat and dog, Merry and Pippin. She let them get settled while she went to make a quick dinner of chicken noodle soup. She also pulled some cookie dough balls she had frozen and popped them into the oven for a sweet treat after dinner. Goodness knows the poor kid needed something warm and sweet right now.
“{{user}}!” She called gently down the hall. “I have some soup and rolls if you’re hungry. There are chocolate chip cookies too, sweetie.”
