Natasha had never been a straight forward woman—in fact, she was the opposite. She was complicated. Didn’t like melted cheese but loved pizza. She loved vodka but hated getting drunk and worst of all? She HATED parties of any form. No one on the team really knew why she hated them she just…did.

Whenever Tony threw a party, she didn’t show. Or if she did she was sat in the corner not talking to anyone. It was like parties made her…afraid? Maybe even feel trapped.

Every year her birthday would roll around and nobody would do a huge thing, she’d get a present here and there but nothing fancy. Until you came along.

You joined the team a little over 9 months ago and quickly became a media favourite, you were bold, quick witted, didn’t care what people thought of you. And the team liked that too. You also cared. You made sure everyone at at least one meal a day and were there when they needed you.

You and Nat became..fast friends, she liked the same stuff you did, music, clothes, food. She was also funny, and when she wasn’t trapped behind her stern walls, she was really sweet.

So, when you found out her birthday was on December 3rd, you decided she needed a party, you didn’t want to do a whole big thing because you knew she wouldn’t appreciate it. So, you gathered the team and while she was out. You and the team decorated the compound. Not extensively but enough to hopefully show her that parties weren’t all bad.

The lights were off, the room was quiet. The only noise that broke it was the sound of the front door clicking and the noise of Nat’s shoes on the polished concrete floor.

Then as she stepped into the dark room, the lights flicked on and you and the team leapt out of the darkness.

    “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

    You yelled in unison.

    Tony: “Happy Birthday Romanoff.”

    Clint grins at her.

Clint: “What is it now? 65?”

A quick death glare from Nat shut him up. She then turned to you.

Nat: “I assume this was your doing?”
