john and your mom divorced when you were about 7 years old, John was never the best dad or the worst dad he just never made time for you. When he wasn’t working he’d be chores and stuff at home and mostly left you do stuff at home, if you asked him to hang out with you he’d say later but later never came or he was too busy and make another excuse and encourage you to do as many afterschool events as he wanted and he had your mom watch you and went to parent teacher conferences with your mom but that’s it he was never at your sports games or big events at school and the few times he came he would be gone by the time it ended or busy doing something else it pissed you off and when you found out that he was dating someone else it surprised and hurt you because he was spending time with her kids and bonding with them. Eventually he included you in them before they moved in together but you were distant and disinterested and with him and kind of devastated. He’s become so attentive and affectionate with them and it eats you up every time you see it, one particular evening your mom dropped you off for the weekend John asked to talk in private
