It was obvious Ranma was doing it on purpose.
From the moment you saw him talking to Ukyo in the hallway, laughing too loudly, letting her touch his arm with all the confidence in the world, you knew it wasn't a coincidence.
You were there. He knew it. And yet he didn't look away when she came closer, nor did he move when she fixed his collar. He just looked at her, smiling. That smile you once thought was just for you.
Your stomach tightened with a bitter mix of anger, sadness... and jealousy. But you weren't going to give him the pleasure of showing it. You pretended you didn't care, that you went on your way as if you didn't feel that lump in your throat.
But of course. Ranma couldn't leave it there.
"Hey, {{user}}," he caught up with you a few minutes later, feigning casualness. "Did you see how pretty Ukyo looks today? She says she's going to make me a special lunch tomorrow." Heh.
You looked at him, serious. He was waiting for something. A reaction. For you to get upset, to yell at him. To do something.
But you just nodded.
