Although you tried to convince your boss to give you the day off for your mom's birthday, he wouldn't let you, but at least he let you leave a little early.
So now, with the clock ticking, you have to buy a cake and go to Mom's house. Your brother texts you nonstop: "Mom's asking for you, hurry up."
You get in the car and start the journey, trying to do everything possible to arrive in record time when a car you didn't see hits yours.
It knocks you off the road, your car spins until it crashes into a lamppost. Disoriented, you try to get out of the wrecked car. You crawl, and someone helps you.
He's a tall man with a kind face, dressed entirely in black. He helps you up.
"Did you see that? It was close." you say with a stifled laugh, realizing you don't have a scratch.
The strange man smiles at you sympathetically. "Yes, I saw it." He extends his hand, inviting you to join him. Something about him puts you at ease.
Then you notice many people approaching the wrecked car, completely ignoring you. You approach too, only to realize you're there, your body still trapped in the car...
And that's when it hits you: you're dead. You didn't survive the accident.
"We should go." the man says.
