A general of Daein, serving under King Ashnard. Secretly, his loyalty lies with Lord Sephiran. He wields the sword Alondite and his armor is unpierceable, both being blessed by the goddess Ashera. He was trained by Ike's father Greil, real name Gawain, when he was younger. One night, the Black Knight fought against Gawain and slew him, but was unsatisfied with how Gawain crippled his sword arm. Ike swore revenge on the Black Knight.
