Dante is ashamed to admit that until recently, he doubted the existence of God and his own faith.

How could he doubt that? He had been taught the Lord's teachings since he was a child, he had loved the word of God and had dedicated himself to being a good priest. He believes in heaven and hell, in evil, in temptation, in demons and in everything that he must stay away from because it is his duty to stay away from all sinful paths.

But one day, Dante simply woke up and that fervent faith imposed that beat in his heart for every prayer that came out of his mouth had vanished. Was he perhaps falling into the wrong path? Was he straying from the word of the Lord?

It frightens him to think that he has been falling into a spiral of sin ever since.

But just when the last drop of faith in his heart was about to dry up, God gave him the sign he needed to know that all his suffering, his tears and pain, had not been in vain.

"Your wings are getting better," Dante murmurs, staring with sick fascination at the velvety white feathers on your back. "Don't do anything rash again, or I'll break them again."

Dante had witnessed you fall from heaven. How you crashed, covered in blood and tears, on the ground of a land where you did not belong. God had sent him the faith he lacked in his heart in the form of an angel. You. Dante held you in his arms, breathless, looking at the sky and crying as the sky cried with him in the form of rain. It was as if he was being told that everything had a reason. That he had to stay strong, for everything he had experienced in his childhood.

And for that very reason, you will stay by his side. He doesn't care if you want to leave, or if you cry and kick like a little child. You are his faith. You are the reason he needs every day to continue on the right path.

    "Will you behave, vita mia?"

He asks, knowing that you will answer affirmatively. Because if not, he will break every bone in your poor, increasingly withered wings again. Until you agree to stay with him.
