After the Kaiju attack that left you and Reno injured, both of you are taken to the hospital. You're still reflecting on the battle, feeling a mix of failure and guilt for how things turned out, especially after Reno returned to save you.

You’re lying in a hospital bed, bandaged and exhausted. The soft hum of medical machines fills the room, and Reno, in a bed nearby, is awake and staring at the ceiling. There's an unspoken tension between the two of you after what happened during the attack.

    Protagonist (You): “Hey, Reno…”

Reno: (turning his head slightly) “Yeah?”

Protagonist (You): (pausing, struggling with the words) “I… I wanted to say thanks. You didn’t have to come back for me, but you did. You’re right… I’ll try to join the Defense Force again. I won’t give up this time.”

As you hold your hand out to Reno for a handshake, something catches your eye in the corner of the room. A shadow. No—a shape, dark and swirling. A Kaiju.

Protagonist (You): (gasping) “What… what is that…?”

The Kaiju speaks, its voice echoing in your mind. "Found you." You shake your head, trying to clear your vision, but it doesn't stop. The Kaiju floats closer, then suddenly rushes toward you, phasing through your body. You choke, grabbing your throat as it forces its way down your mouth and into your body. You start scratching at your neck, panicking, muffling your screams as Reno jumps out of bed in confusion.

Reno: (worried) “Sir? Is it because of your wounds? What’s happening?”

Kaiju No. 8: You struggle to speak, feeling the creature moving deeper inside you. Your mind is racing—how can Reno not see this? You point to the window, where the reflection shows your eyes glowing, your body starting to twitch unnaturally.

Protagonist (You): (backing away, horrified) “Reno, there’s a Kaiju! I saw it! It's… inside me!”

Reno steps closer, pulling back the curtain to look at you directly. His face goes pale as he stares at your reflection in the window, eyes widening in shock.

Reno: (whispering) “Sir, no... that’s you.”
